August 30, 2005: Rep. Price to Speak at Dunwoody Kiwanis Club

Congressman Tom Price has rapidly emerged as a leader in Georgia, diligent and tireless worker, and problem solver. Colleagues in the Georgia Senate twice elected Price as their Minority Whip and in 2002 as the first Republican Majority Leader in the history of Georgia. In August of 2004, Tom Price won the Republican nomination for Congress in Georgia’s Sixth Congressional District, comprised of Cherokee, Cobb, and Fulton counties. Price was elected without opposition in November of 2004.
In Congress, Price's priorities are reforming the tax system, strengthening healthcare and education, bringing common sense to the litigation system, and finding transportation solutions for Atlanta's residents and commuters. Price is currently working to eliminate the capital gains tax, enact the FairTax plan, and secure the future of Medicare. Tom Price favors allowing individual states the autonomy to improve their schools and end burdensome regulation. Price serves on the Committee on Financial Services, as well as the Committee on Education and the Workforce.
Congressman Price was appointed as freshman member to the Whip Organization by Majority Whip Roy Blunt as Deputy Assistant Whip. In addition to this leadership position, Price also serves on the National Republican Congressional Committee’s Executive Board.
As a medical doctor, Congressman Price is a leader in the healthcare arena. His credits include legislative efforts to increase patient choice in a more flexible healthcare system, to enact Medical Savings Accounts, and to reform the Medicaid System in Georgia. Congressman Price has been the leading sponsor of civil justice reform legislation to ensure patient access to quality health care and bring down skyrocketing medical malpractice premiums. Other legislative successes include primary co-sponsorship of Georgia's Greenspace Program, reducing income taxes for senior citizens, improving employee screening in childcare facilities and strengthening laws against internet child predators.
Congressman Price received a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Michigan and completed his Orthopaedic Surgery residency at Emory University. Price established an orthopaedic clinic just north of Atlanta. After nearly twenty years of private practice he returned to Emory University School of Medicine as an Assistant Professor. Price was most recently Medical Director of the Orthopaedic Clinic at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, teaching resident doctors in training.
Price is active in his community, is a past President of the Roswell Rotary Club and has service on Boards of the North Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Orchestra Atlanta, the Arthritis Foundation, the North Metro YMCA, and the Northside Bank. Congressman Price with his wife, Elizabeth, and son, Robert, reside in Roswell. The Prices are members of the Georgia Ensemble Theater, the Fulton County Taxpayer's Association, the Chattahoochee Nature Center, and active members of Roswell Presbyterian Church.

 

August 23, 2005 : Israeli Deputy Consul General Aviv Ezra to Speak at Dunwoody Kiwanis Club

Deputy Consul General Aviv Ezra began his current diplomatic assignment in the Consulate General of Israel to the Southeast in the summer of 2002 as the second-highest ranking diplomat in the region. Ezra was previously assigned to the Department of Israel-Middle East Economic Development in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He worked to enhance the economic relationships between Israel and its neighboring countries, including Egypt, Jordan, and Mauritania.

In August 2000, Ezra was stationed in Cairo, Egypt as the head of the Economic and Trade Affairs Division at the Embassy of Israel where he focused on the practical angle of the economic and commercial relationships between Israel and Egypt, especially in the areas of agrotechnology and energy, among other issues.During his tenure he was a member of the Israel-Egypt Joint Agricultural Committee.

Mr. Ezra was born in Israel, in the coastal city of Ashkelon. He completed his military service in the Israel Defense Forces, serving as an officer, and then received his Bachelors Degree in Economics and Political Science from Hebrew University in Jerusalem. He then worked in the advertising field as a Deputy Managing Director for a private company before joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a cadet.

Mr. Ezra is a newly wed, marrying Einat Harel in September 2003.
